 Agricultural Demonstrations (Ag Demos) Minimize

Welcome to the Agricultural Demonstrations (Ag Demos) Area
of the Common Ground Country Fair!

The Agricultural Demonstrations area is open to individuals and organizations furthering sustainable agriculture and strengthening rural communities. The emphasis in this area is on teaching and demonstrating farming and gardening skills, strengthening agricultural economies and communities, and organization building and networking. To support this purpose, we offer exhibit space as well as opportunities for participants to present topical educational talks and demonstrations.

The application deadline for the 2010 Fair has passed and our AG Demo schedule is full for this year, but if you are interested in having a presence in our Ag Demos area or presenting an educational talk or demonstration in the area in 2010 please email us at cgcf@mofga.org or call 207-568-4142 and ask to be added to our mailing list for next year.

 Coordinators Needed Minimize

The Ag Demo area is in need of input and volunteer effort now and at the Fair. The following are some areas of need. Please email Adam Tomash at bluemoonmac@roadrunner.com or call 582-5248 with your ideas or to sign up for the volunteer list.

Volunteers would get another mailing as we get closer to the fair. I would like 8 volunteers-one for each of two, 4 hour shifts at each of 4 tents-Ag Demo A and B, the Ag Demonstrations Exhibitors Tent and the AV Tent. The AV tent volunteers should be acquainted with operation of slide projectors, computer presentation hook up with digital projector. We need one volunteer for each tent for two shifts each day or 8 volunteers altogether.

We are also in need of someone who knows how to clean seed with the type of equipment which has been at the fair in the past. At least some of that equipment will be present at the fair this year but we need some knowledgeable people to run it, particularly on Friday. We also will need some raw seed to process if you have any kicking around.

Exhibitors: Exhibitor Recruitment - who do we want? how do we invite new participants? Do you have topics you want addressed in the Ag Demonstration Exhibitor area at the fair? Are there past speakers you would/would not recommend?

Presentation Application Reviews: Want to have a say so in who gives presentations?

Booth & Tent Set-up: Mapping out what's on paper on the ground--set up tables and chairs-put up signs on Thursday before the Fair.

Demos: Topic Development - what do we want to be talked about?

Speaker Recruitment: Who do we want to do the talking? If you have ideas for topic can you give me proposed speaker(s) and contact info?

Speaker Tent Management: Welcome speakers, stage/time manager, someone to manage chairs, flip charts, etc... Volunteers for 4 hour shifts at the Fair. 8 shifts available. Being there to welcome, observe, troubleshoot and manage. Hand out speakers materials and feedback forms to attendees for feedback via the fair feedback kiosks (in planning stages). Give presenters their t-shirt or honorarium check and meals ticket at the conclusion of each talk. Keep dry erase board up-to-date with changes and cancellations.
